This latest tradgedy with all these children killed is just another example of society's decaying moral fabric. It is not a indicator of the need for more gun control. No matter how much gun control you have it will not stop this kind of madness.
The only way to stop this is to address the problem of broken families.

NJ shooter/PTSD?/ Hurricane Isaac
I am an ER nurse from New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina we saw an increase in homicide/suicide. It continues today.
There was no PTSD screening after the storm. I looked at Ryans Facebook page and did not note any concerning posts.
I wonder if the Lanza family who reside in Hoboken, NJ were victims of Hurricane Isaac. I wonder how the family was coping after the storm. Remember, Hoboken NJ families felt abandoned after the storm.
I would like to see some background on their family in relation to the storm;

The Chilkoot Chicks
Moms have a tough job. While some of us go to a fancy spa to relax, four of us (two friends, my sister, and myself) chose to hike the Chilkoot Trail, a historic hike which spans two countries.
The scenery was beautiful. I'll never forget the gorgeous blue lakes at Deep Lake or the lovely waterfalls on the way to Canyon City. The archaeological remains along the trail were amazing to behold - shoes, boats, cables, and tin cans...so many things that people left behind to get to gold.
There were also so many challenges. Each of us had our own concerns and fears. My sister was frightened of the Scales, while one of my friends had severe "bear-anoia". The night before summit day was pouring rain and we were told it would be the next day as well. Luckily, it stopped raining the next morning. As we climbed higher and higher to the summit, more snow was visible on the trail. I have never seen an endless field of snow in early July! The climb seemed never ending, but that night at Happy Camp we celebrated with the Canadians at the next table. Hearing them sing their national anthem and pass the champagne gave us reason to celebrate, too.
This hike had such an impact on our group that we have decided to hold an annual "Moms-only Hike." Next summer we plan on hiking Crow's Pass and eventually would like to take on the Grand Canyon.

Moldaw Residents Celebrate Hanukkah with Unique Community Candle Lighting and Festive Performance
Moldaw Residences, a senior living community located on the 8.5 acre Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life, held a moving and entertaining Festival of Lights party in honor of Hanukkah. Residents shared stories about the history of their family menorahs, and they came together to light them simultaneously. The event also included a fun-filled concert by the Moldaw Singers, a talented group of two dozen residents, that featured a song in Ladino (a combination of Spanish and Hebrew) and other Hanukkah and wintertime favorites.
“We dedicated our candle lighting to peace,” said Miki Raver, director of lifestyles services for Moldaw Residences. “It was important for us to come together and bring in the light both symbolically and literally.”
The Moldaw Singers spent three months preparing for the special concert. The group enjoyed putting on the show, and the members recently also performed at Avenidas, a community senior center in Palo Alto. Linda Mankin, 84-year-old Moldaw resident, arranged all of the music, directed the choir and accompanied them during the performance. The concert included nine songs, some in Hebrew and some in English, and concluded with “It’s a Small World.”
“Music is a wonderful outlet, and I try to arrange songs that everyone will enjoy,” said Mankin. “Some of the members of Moldaw Singers haven’t sung in 40 or 50 years, and they had a ball. Being a part of the group makes us all feel rejuvenated, and I hope we touched the audience with our music.”

Moldaw Residences is on the 8.5 acre Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life, and is adjacent to the 130,000 square foot Oshman Family Jewish Community Center. What my wife was staring at
She was directly across from the Three Apostles on the Virgin River, Zion Canyon.
We spent a day at this one spot, mesmerized by the utter beauty and silence.

In the wake of the shooting tragedy at a school in Connecticut, news outlet CNN displayed a cold disregard for the tragedy today by posting "Editor's Choice" articles alongside the shooting news on it's US page that included headlines such as "Believe in Wardrobe Malfunctions?" The thinking behind the editor's choices is not immediately clear.
