Defending Our God

Continually we as Christian are boarded everyday with opinions that are counter to what we believe and hold so dearly. Many times we response in anger and other times with compassion but I felt a mixture of both when I read the article posted titled “Why I Raise My Children Without God”. The article continually pointed out that the Christian view point is illogical, so I felt a need to address Christianity and our beliefs from a logical view point. I also felt the need to Defend Our God because others rarely do properly, and when it is done, it is usually from one extreme to the other.
Below I am going to address each argument outlined in Deborah Mitchell’s iReport and Defend Our God.
(From a Christian view Point)
Our nation has always had religious fever and if proper research is done about the founding of our country you will found over whelming evidence that this is true. The problem is most people don’t perform proper research and attempt to place information on a blog or website as if it is from a perspective of truth. The sad part is that people who come across articles or even news reports take what is read and said at face value, now that is illogical. And please don’t take my word as truth, research about the founding of America or just pull a dollar out of your pocket and read it. “In God We Trust” it was place for a reason find out why.
Respectfully, Deborah your children will come to not trust your judgment because of your actions, not because of what you do or do not tell them about God. Our children absorb how we relate to others and imitate what we do, so you should be more careful about your actions. As they grow up and become adults they will be exposed to various belief systems and will choose on their own what to believe. The proper step to take is to help them understand those various beliefs and the history behind them. Just imposing on them what you believe and not properly educating them will cause them to question your judgment.
God is not a bad parent.
God is only a father to those who believe in him. If you look at it from that perspective then you may understand. If you don’t believe in Him then your mind may fall subject to evil actions. Without those who have a relationship with God (Christianity) there would be no balance in the world, there would be just evil. And if you question that statement ask yourself where the first bases of good or laws that command proper behavior towards each other (THE BIBLE). Our God does not condone violence, if you just simply read the Ten Commandments you would quickly come to that realization.
God is Logical.
You have to come to terms with the fact that its people making senseless and evil choices and those people are responsible for the outcome NOT GOD. When times get difficult people do ask the question “Why did God allow this to happen?” what they have to realize is they are asking the wrong people. As believers we know to ask God and not the world because only God has that answer for us. You cannot blame him if you don’t believe in him anyway so that would be illogical. And yes Jesus Christ did teach us how to live peacefully with one another. But you have missed the key word “TEACH” God knows we have the tendency to choose evil that why He has left a guide for us. There are those who chose the peace he taught and those who chose to go against that teaching. Its call free will.
God is Fair
No were in the Bible is it written that “ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL” Thomas Jefferson first used the phrase in the Declaration of Independence. Your argument is not based on something God wholes as truth. That statement is misquoted as biblical truth. Jesus advised us up front that in this life we will experience trouble and that has been true for me before and after becoming a Christian. Our belief lessens the impact of the trouble because we experience trouble it helps us to strive through because we believe God by our side the whole way. Those who experience misfortune have their own burden to bare and neither you nor I should make judgments about it unless we have all the facts.
God’s protection
God does not promise in every situation he will protect us so you cannot argue with God about that. Parents are given the primary responsibility to protect their children by God and society. As you know some parents chose to harm their children but since people make their own choices we cannot change that we are not puppets. As a society we do not always stand up and speak for those who cannot. I am not sure what American history books your reading. I can provide many example of where we (Americans) have not, so you cannot not expect God too. For example slavery in America there was two arguments those (humans) who chose to keep the status quo for their evil benefit and those (humans) who felt it was wrong and wanted a change.
Parents Teach Children to be Good not God.
Children do not have the ability to choose between right and wrong until they reach a certain age, as parents it is our responsibility to teach them Not God. The reason we tell our children that God is watching over us is to make them feel secure, not to scare them into submission. Christian’s advised there children of the consequences of their actions which is what is suppose to persuade them not to make the wrong choices. But as you know some children will make the wrong choices regardless of what you say to them.
God does not teach Narcissism people do.
If you read the New Testament of the Bible you will realize the “Jesus’s Style” as we Christian’s put it can be summed up in one quote directly from the Bible.
“Whoever wants to be first must be servant of all”
A servant’s job is to do all he can to make life better for others and to free them to be everything they can be. A servant’s first interest is not himself but others. Servant hood is a loving choice we make to minister to others. This is what Jesus calls us to do serve others so before you make your private business public and comment on someone else’s beliefs do your research. Otherwise I would rather you kept your opinion about Our God at home in your mind. Lastly referring to Christianity as a religion is a social construct, for us Christianity is defined as a personal relationship between us and our God.
