My dear friend, Jon Hammar who i served with in Fallujah in 2005-2006 is locked up in a Mexican prison in Matamoros, MX after entering the country with a 24 inch barrel shotgun. Hammar just completed a stay at a Napa, CA. PTSD treatment center and was on his way to Costa Rica to get some piece of mind through surfing. Hammar doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs. He's an exemplary Marine who put his life on the line when our platoon was ambushed in an alley on the south side of Fallujah in January 2006. Hammars selfless acts as an automatic machine gunner, spared the lives of several Marines and pushed back the enemy assault that left 1 marine severely wounded and another dead. RIP Cpl. Gettings. He has nothing but love for people and life. Now, after crossing the border into Mexico, he gets arrested for the same weapon that the US Customs officials cleared him for and advised Hammar that there would be no problem registering it in Mexico. We need to get this Marine back home who has fought valiantly for us all and is now chained to a bed post in solitary confinement in a Mexican prison. This is outrages and ludicrous. There is no shortage of US Marines ready to extract him from the hell hole is in right now...regardless of the punishment. BRING JON HAMMAR HOME!
