“National Flash Mob” for Newtown
We’ve all watched with immense sadness the devastation, horror, sorrow - and moments of incredible light – in Newtown over the last week.
Let’s use a “National Flashmob” of song at 8:00 p.m. EST on Christmas Eve to help shed a tiny light into the darkness that has been visited upon Newtown. Let’s take the spark that has been ignited by the courage shown in that grievously wounded community and spread it across the nation.
Join with my family and me at 8 p.m. EST on Christmas Eve for a candlelight version of “Silent Night”. Come out of your houses and sing with us please. I know that if enough of us do so we can raise a voice so loud that heaven’s newest angels will hear it.

A personal note. I live 40 miles from Newtown. I am an average American - a 59-year-old, Stage 3A lung cancer survivor and the proudest grandfather of my 18-month old grandson, Bradley. I welcome the arrival of each new day. It is Christmas. Bradley has been so thrilled by it all. Though he always brings a smile to my face, inside my heart is aching. It is aching for the families of Newtown who do not have their children this year. It has shattered for me forever what should be one of the happiest Christsmases of my life. JUST THINK WHAT IT HAS DONE TO THE FAMILIES OF NEWTOWN.
Since this happened I have barely been able to sleep. I see the faces of the children of Newtown - our children now really - and I feel that I have to do something. For the last several days I have driven everyone I know to distraction, and hopefully by extension everyone that they know, to spread the word about our Christmas Eve "Silent Night" tribute to the families of Newtown.
Please help us to spread the word. Never has there been a more real or urgent need for a PUBLIC OUTPOURING" of support. Perhaps it will help us all rest a little easier tonight.
