My husband and I lived in Houston, Texas in the same neighboorhood as the president - Tanglewood. It was 1994 and I had my newborn son in the car in his seat and I was sitting in the back seat with him, my husband behind the wheel getting ready to pull out of a book store parking lot when I turned around to see if we could back up and said to him, "how silly, someonone has boxed us into the parking space." the next thing I know, my husband looks up and sees a fleet of people entering the book store and says to me, "That isn't just somebody, it's President Bush!" He says he will be right back, walks into the book store and asks the President if he could have his autograph and the President turns to him and says, "I will if you by this nice lady's book!" It was his wife's newly published book and of course, he did and the book is still on our bookshelf today autographed to my husband. President Bush is a great person. . very down-to earth. We used to see him all the time running in the park in Houston or at St. Martin's Epsicopal Church on Sunday mornings and he was always very gracious to everyone. My family lived in New England and would go to Kennebunkport in the summer and they would say the same thing when they saw him playing golf or going for a run up there. . always very gracious and humble.
