In a remarkably irresponsible, idiotic move, The Journal News (lohud.com) has published the names and addresses of all local handgun owners in Westchester and Rockland Counties. Sending all gun owners over the edge! Gun owners are calling for the paper to fire all those involved with this report! Citing total disregard for privacy and safety of gun owners and those that are not armed. Who knows how criminals will use this information now? Either to rob the homes of those owning the guns for those said guns or now knowing the surrounding homes that are not armed they can get in and out without worrying about facing a homeowner with a legally owned gun! The information while public information has never been printed in the form the Journal News used attached to an interactive map to give a criminal the ability to map out a possible robbery route and even address gun owners by their names!!! Although most gun owners are extremely sympathetic to the nearby horrific events that occurred in nearby Newtown, Ct. this freedom of information act does not give any media outlet the freedom to be "STUPID"!
