Located on the tip of Point Loma in San Diego. This lighthouse was once a beacon on light for Southern California. The old lighthouse is the highest point of the peninsula and has been a San Diego icon since 1855. The lighthouse closed in 1891, and a new one opened at a lower elevation, due to fog and low clouds obscuring the light. The old lighthouse is now a museum and part of the Cabrillo National Monument. A must visit!
