I first spotted Hachi on July 24 at a gas station in the Cajon Pass at Hwy 138 & Hyw 15. I was told that she had been there for several days. She would just sit there, looking around, as if to expect her guardian to come back for her. I was unable to catch her, but the next day Animal Control picked her up and took her to the Apple Valley Animal Services.
I returned to this area and posted flyers everywhere. I placed ads in the paper, as well as, on many lost and found sites. I have contacted many dogs rescues, who sadly are full with other people's discarded animals.
I have named her Hachi, after the true life story of the dog in Japan, who faithfully waited for his guardian to return to the train station everyday. One day the professor died, and Hachi remained at the train station for the rest of his life waiting and wondering.
Hachi is one of hundreds of dogs in need of rescue. However, I want to make a difference in the life of this girl. She has been dumped once, and I don't want her to be let down again.
