In April (2013), my wife and I went to Lisbon (our first time) to discover the city. These pictures represent different areas of Lisboa (Lisbon) and cultural element that makes this city so beautiful.
Alfama picture:
this picture was taken in an area of the city named Alfama. Alfama is made of many hills on which houses/buildings covered with tiles were build, giving to the area a nice and red colored effect in contrast to the blue of the sea. I was on a terrace when I took this picture. You can see the top of the houses coverer with tile, a cruise ship in the background, and a guitarist/singer that made the moment magical.
Liberdade pictures were taken on Avenida Liberdade, the main street of Lisbon, in the heart of the city: Liberdade 1 picture shows a nice monument with a nice building in the background.
Liberdade2 picture reflects the beauty of many colored houses.
Liberdade night picture is a view of the Avenida Liberdade at night.
One of my preferred picture is Liberdade through glass: One afternoon, on our way back to the hotel (our Hotel was on Avenida Liberdade), my wife wanted to seat in a bistro and enjoy a glass of Portuguese wine. The view was so nice through the window of the small restaurant that I had the idea of taking a picture of the city through the glass of wine and through the window; and I was pretty satisfied with the result.
Rossio Square from elevator: Rossio square is in the middle of the city. This is a big and vibrant place with many restaurants, stores, street vendors. I took this picture on a holiday (it was they were not many people in the street) from the top of the Santa Justa elevador.
The second Rossio square picture shows the beauty of the mosaic on the floor. Most of the streets in old Lisbon are made with mosaic. It is like an art.
Thank you for sharing my story and pics.
