Working hard for nothing?

I'm 26 years old with a (way more than) full time job, a bachelor's degree, student loan and credit card debt and a car payment. And because so much money is being taken from me through interest and taxes, I have to live at home with my mother and step father.

I work very hard for my paycheck - just like the majority of workers in the US. And every year I see the government take more and more out of my paychecks.
It used to be that we worked for the first three months of the year (summed up) to pay taxes. It's now the first 5 months of the year. There's something incredibly wrong with this.

The government keeps telling us that we're "in recession" and that we're "trying to recover."

I can tell you one thing - taking more and more money from your citizens to pay your debt is not the way to recover. You want people to go out and spend more money? Let us keep it in our pockets. You want people to create more jobs within their companies? Let us keep our money in our pockets.

A lot of people will agree with the statement "in order for a country to pay back its debt, its people must contribute." I personally agree with: "the government spending my money without my permission is fraud." People go to jail for stealing money from banks. How is this any different? The government keeps taking and taking and taking and if I were to call this over-taxation unconstitutional and refuse to pay more taxes than I see fit, I would be arrested - held against my will like a hostage - and punished.

So why is the government not being punished for continually taking money from me? I work hard for what little I have and I can't afford to take care of myself. I have a full time salaried job at a large profitable company. I don't slack. I don't do drugs or drink or steal or break any laws. And I have to live with my mother.

Inflation is out of control. When I was 21 (only 5 years ago) I was making 20K a year and could support myself in my own apartment. Today at 26 I'm making 36K a year and can barely afford to buy groceries over $50 a weekend due to my other bills and more money being taken out. Even my Christmas bonus had $400 taken out of it. That was a CHRISTMAS bonus for working my tail off all year.

Quit spending MY money. You're not doing anything for me. You're working against me and the millions of other citizens in this country in the same position I'm in.

Your true "middle class" doesn't sit at $250k a year. That's UPPER middle class. That's a LOT of money. At $36k I'm closer to the true middle class.

For all of the congress/house members and everyone else that's getting paid over $200k a year and sitting there judging whether or not to take more of MY income... that's highly unfair. How about all of those people take a pay cut, quit living above their means and realize that it's a rough life and they're only making it worse.

I have dreams... dreams of owning a home and having children and being a solid contributor to society. I have dreams of not being stressed out about "do I pay this bill or buy more groceries?" I have a dream of being happy. And all this "fiscal cliff" and "raising taxes" is doing is proving to me that none of those simple dreams are ever going to come true.

I've watched this country deteriorate extremely quickly since Bush took office.. I'm working harder and losing more money because the government can't stop spending.

They're like children with a credit card. Your citizens are mommy and daddy and we're not made of money. Just give us a break. We don't need YOU to fix our financial problems... you're the cause of the majority of them. Back off and let us fix things ourselves.

All I want is to keep what I work for and to be able to support myself. I'm not asking you for a handout... I'm not asking you to let me be a welfare baby. I'm not asking you to bail me out like all of those giant corporations who then turned around and gave millions of dollars in bonuses out to their higher ups... I'm asking you to lower my taxes so I can fix my life on my own. So others like me can fix their lives on their own.

Like I said before... give your people more of their money and they will spend it. Don't be greedy. Look what happened to Enron and Madoff. Greed ruins things.
Are you really the only people that don't understand that? We don't all have silver spoons in our mouths. You've taken them.
