Anwer Hafedh wanted to listen to music while driving his car. he played a CD containing a variety of songs, including a famous Tunisian Rap song of a Tunisian rap rapper (Weld El 15). this singer had been sentenced to three years imprisonment for having sung and produced that very song that policemen heard in Anwer's car: a 'classical' rap song, that talked about the suffering of the youth, already victims of unemployment and neglect around the world,
The song denounced artistically, in the typical rap style, the suffering of the youth under dictatorship, especially when the dictatorship sets up a corrupt police system, violent and merciless.
Anwer is also now in prison because a group of policemen heard this song in his car
In a control papers, police heard this rap song emanating in low volume from the car. Before he had time to close the CD, Anwer and his friend were beaten lengthily in the street and then in the police station. We, the family and friends of Anwer, make an urgent and solemn appeal to the defendants of human rights, the media and democratic Tunisian and international organisms and all political parties to get involved and work to stop this shameful imprisonment in Tunisia and liberate Anwer Hafedh, who is imprisoned for listening to music in Tunisia.
