Montgomery (Welsh: Trefaldwyn; meaning "The Town of Baldwin") once the county town of Montgomeryshire (and possible centre of the universe) is a picturesque town in Mid Wales. Boasting the ruins of a Norman castle, a 13th century church in good nick containing the Herbert tombs and the Robbers Grave and the more recent County Gaol.

For those interested in gastronomy rather than history they can choose between traditional fish and chips, quaint tea rooms, an Indian restaurant and even "The Checkers" now adorned with a Michelin star.

But this rural paradise is pioneering something new!!!!
For many years, former Mayor and local farmer Mr Bob Jones has been working to beautify the town streets by adding potted trees. This enterprise has required persuasion, time, effort, financing, dedication and a fair amount of ingenuity. The pots are covered in clover.........which needs trimming...........so Bob bought a pair of beautiful bunnies to do the job for him!!!

Before the hustle and bustle gets into full swing on Broad Street early risers are treated to the sight of this gentle pair munching breakfast. Surprised visitors stop in amazement and then watch with pleasure wondering why they never hop off and make a dash for freedom!! Concerned citizens have scooped them up on a couple of occasions and taken them into "Spar", the only shop open so early, to report them abandoned or escaped!

What a wonderful idea. Bravo Bob.

(Note to editor....Bob just so happens to be my father)
