I was a college wrestler....134 lbs....went to Wall Street right after graduation and I just seemed to get fatter by the minute. I got lost in the lifestyle and my health suffered. By the time I was 35 I had gained 60 lbs......and surprisingly I was still only 5'7" .......I was 210 lbs and miserable. High blood pressure.....insomniac....high cholesterol....and depressed.
One day in 2007 I decided that it was enough.....I literally went cold turkey from that monet on....I learned all I could about proper 'fat-loss' eating.....how much cardio to do.....how to really lift weights and work my muscles.
In 6 months I went from 210 lbs to 148 lbs......
I loved the whole process so much that I decided to leave the world of the capital markets, finance....and get into fitness full time. Personal training, teaching spin, bootcamps....and 10 other unique fitness classes. I also wrote a short eBook on my diet program which all my clients get and follow.....it is so satisfying to watch others do exactly what I did....and be so pleased with themselves.
It's hard work.....you need to be consistent....the must get in your cardio, intense cardio at least 4 times a week....intensity lasting 45 minutes or more each time....you must work EVERY major muscle group......and you have to be consistent with your eating. I eliminated all white carbs....no rice (of any kind...brown rice is NO good....for those in need of shedding fat) no potatoes, pasta, sugar or flour...I even eliminated all grains during my fat loss.....no starches at all.
I eat lean protein (egg whites, fish and seafood, chicken, turkey and even lean beef) I eat carbs, of course: beans, veggies, fruit and some nuts.
Almost as important...I drink at least a gallon of water every day. EVERY DAY. Every.
I went from 36 inch waist, or sometimes just sweatpants....to a 31 inch waist. Cholesterol is now ideal...blood pressure is perfect....I sleep like a baby. And now I only get depressed when my team (Rutgers Scarlett Knights) lose a football game.....which was not often this year...but still had some close ones where they blew it.....ah well.
Consistency is the key. Skipping workouts, cheating on the diet....these things cancel out any chance to be successful in this process....you need to really dig deep and stick with it, like it was your job or your religion.....
Stocky to fit in 6 months.....
