Sent from my iPhone It all started when a boy the age of 13 noticed a beautiful girl of 14 living in the same pueblo in Mexico. He instantly fell for her. Though she would not give him the time of day, he would not give up. Knowing she liked nice things he took one of his mother's fancy shoe boxes, put cow manure in it, closed it up and finished it off with a big beautiful bow. He gave it to her as a gift and she happily accepted it, but once she opened it she was infuriated!! But he accomplished what he wanted, finally getting her attention. From then on she began to acknowledge him but nothing more. Even though she was engaged to another man he still tried and tried to gain her love but could not. And one day she looked into his eyes and finally realized that she was in love with him. Once she broke off the engagement he waisted no time in asking for her hand in marriage. At 17 they married and went on to have 10 children together,Later on in the years, after all the children were off and grown, he retired to start spending time with his wife vacationing. Shortly after retirement she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Since then she has never been the same, but the love he has for her and the memories of their life together, he cherishes! He is there for her through all the difficult battles that come along with her sickness and wouldn't want it any other way. This Saturday, January 12, 2013, Martias and Maria Alvarez will celebrate their 60 years of love and marriage at the Elks Lodge in Buena Park, CA with family, friends and loved ones. In these times this is a great story for others to hear, CNN we invite you to attend and report this beautiful event. Angelina Guarisco,16 (Grand daughter)
