In this life I have the great pleasure of having a best friend, a platonic love of my life. On our most recent holiday together in March we went to Paris with no plan but time together. We let the days and nights of anywhere take us away.
Everything went our way.
Climate changes and all, it is consistently true that London & Paris have one perfect week on each end of summer. So splendid in sunshine and perfect temps that all the grey SAD (uk particularly) disappears. We got Paris in their perfect week.
On our last day, where I was ordering in french finally, and we weren't lost, we strolled the Marais with our matching lattes, baguette & pain aux raisin in tow and we strolled into a very under construction Centre Des Monuments Nationaux for exploratory sake.
Past the scaffolding, entering the gardens, the sun at perfect height, and equal heat in our patisserie finds we took it all in. It was magical, it was what poets laude, and cynics awe. We took a seat and did nothing but take it in. Closing our eyes with serene smiles, we were joined by a violinist and chorus of birds chirping through the newly found spring.
This was a moment that we both knew we were not required nor expected to be anywhere else, we were exactly where we were supposed to be and it was perfect.
