I'm a 53-year old husband and father of 4 forced into disability by the effects of ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This disease causes many indignities as I struggle through everyday tasks. The worst indignity, however, is that I can no longer protect my wife and children from the effects and costs of disease.
For 30 years I have been able to access health insurance for my family through my employer.
Since the onset of my disease, my wife left work to care for me and, although I receive benefits through Medicare, my wife and children cannot purchase insurance even though none of them are ill. One child is underweight, one is an expectant father and the others have sought professional therapy to support them as they watch their father become paralyzed.
My family needs Obamacare now.
