I was let's see -10 (that's negative 10 not a dash for dramatic pause, DOB October '72) years old when JFK was assassinated in 1963. I probably heard about JFK in middle school if not elementary school. I remember a summer bible school teacher asking if we remembered JFK, she was a little off. JFK like any president has some great words whether of his own or his speech writers we give the presidents credit for speaking them. I think from what I know of the time through stories he was change, vision, all that was optimistic for a bright future. Unlike Democrats of today that feel they have to win votes to stay in power by promising to give, give, give and pander to the poor and disenfranchised, JFK asked us all "ask not what your country can do for you (welfare, etc), ask what you can do for your country". It would be nice to have a politician in any party remember this and unite our culturally diverse land. JFK wanted to go to the moon and working together the US did. Now China and other countries have raced ahead in green energy, education, health care and other areas. What can we do to come together and advance our country as JFK envisioned? So today while I don't remember the man, JFK, I remember to man in the stories I have read and heard, JFK, the young visionary. We need more like him.
