Surviving the Flu from December 21 to January 3

The Friday before Christmas I started with a real scratchy throat, muscle aches and by night fall fever and chills added to the fun. I had two of my grandchildren earlier in the week after a trip to their doctor. This meant no school for them.
By Saturday morning I was coughing my head off with the glorious goop that goes with it, and headache. Yep I had the flu. My grankids had the flu mist. The husband had the flu shot in September. I was not due the vaccine until the end of January so I did not take it. The kids were over it in a few days and my husband who also developed a mild case was over it in 3 days. With Christmas fast approaching and everyone coming to Grandma's, I knew I had to get busy.
I gathered all my old faithfuls, many of which I use on a daily basis anyway and added some over the counter products .
My kit consisted of water, hot tea and other fluids.Hot soup, canned or homemade, especially spicey chili. We did not have upset tummies, so this was a good thing. My usual vitamins and suppliments, I knew would boost the immune system. I am a believer in organic apple cider vinegar with the mother for a wide variety of ailments and food supplement. Organic virgin coconut oil is great to put on a red sore nose and great for dry itchy skin. Last but not least my kitties gave me lot's of good company and head bumps. That is always a comfort.
We all made it through Christmas and so far none of the other family members have started the scratchy throat. Rest was not in the cards for me but the day after Christmas I did not move. Ahhhhhhh.
