Dear City Of Saint Francis,
The story of 1.6 year old American Staffordshire terrier, Charlie who has captured national and international attention recently, has been pardoned and City of San Francisco has decided not to euthanize the dog for biting a cop and his horse, Stoney, in an un-leashed area of San Francisco's Crissy Field.
Charlie did exactly what Nettie, a trained, certified and a therapy dog did. Nettie’s owner, who worked for the SPCA, was walking her female bull terrier mix "illegally off leash" in San Francisco when a Mounted Park Police Officer rode his horse into the San Francisco Park and Recreations Area. The owner was kicked in the head trying to grab her dog. The police utilized their firearms and a dangerous situation occurred. The police officers shot Nettie on site. Rather than charging ex-SPCA worker with 4 Federal Counts of Assault, the Park Police give her a fine for $100.
On Tuesday August 28th, 2012 the Park Police issued statements that they want Charlie euthanized. Animal control has agreed with the Park Police and has scheduled Charlie to be put to sleep. According to the 01/15/2013 Settlement which forced on Charlie’s owner David Gizzarelli, leaves him with no right to sue, relinquish ownership of Charlie, gives Animal Care and Control $3600 and a full accounting of funds.
Charlie is not a vicious and dangerous dog and needs return his home with his family where he belongs. He 100% deserves a second chance and we, the 114,292 supporters around the world are appealing to let Charlie goes home with David after his rehabilitation. I believe he has already served his punishment for being captivated in 8x4 kennels at ACC for past five months without any human contact or walk considering this was his first offence.
Animal advocates from around the world want Charlie to be saved and returned home. The City of San Francisco and SFACC took all the credit for saving Charlie after fighting, when for past five months they have wanted to kill Charlie saying he is ‘vicious and dangerous’ . Now they settled with an agreement to send Charlie away to a rescue or sanctuary, if David gives them money, relinquish ownership of Charlie, and give away all rights to sue the city.
The question is why did SFACC treat Charlie differently? Is it humane and justified to call a 1.6 year old pup “vicious and dangerous just because Charlie got spooked as he never saw a horse in his life? Will your dog act the same when introduced to a horse for the time?
Would media or someone else be interested to investigate ACC cover up, investigate Officer Evans for creating a dangerous situation, investigate the City of San Francisco for public persecution and media smear campaign destroying David Gizzarelli for loving his dog, investigate the media for lying, attacking, bullying, and taking sides with the City of San Francisco? Will Charlie go home with David?
Radio talk show host on NewsTalk Radio 910 AM, Mr Len Tillem who stated during an interview with David Gizzarelli that he would have no problem sticking a needle in to his dog's heart to kill him?? Another radio talk show host at KGO Newstalk 810 AM “The Monty show”, calls all pit bull breeds as “Killing machines”.
David Gizzarelli, Charlie’s owner has not given up his fight for Charlie. A “Freedom of Assembly March” has been created to take place in front of San Francisco City Hall on January 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM. If you believe Charlie was subjected to injustice and must return home, please be present at the
Help Save Charlie: Freedom of Assembly March.
