Eid-ul-Fitr is an annual celebration of the muslim community, and the people of Bangladesh prefer to celebrate the event with their close family at their hometown or village.

Railways prove to be a popular form of transport, but the number of seats available don't do justice to the number of prospective passengers.

There is still a week or so left for Eid, but people have already started to move to avoid the rush at the very end. I decided to photograph the events from such an earlier phase since I thought it would give me a complete picture. The journey they are making is of great significance because I beleive the journeys that take you home are always the most meaningful.

Its a great occasion, and somehow tells us how big a fraction of the city people are actually from outside the city, people who are part of the definition of city and how their roots are far away from it.
