Eid is celebrated worldwide by millions of people of numerous cultures. Each culture has its own unique yet significant Eid traditions that have been spread across the globe, making the celebration's atmosphere genuinely international. As an international member of this world, I have been exposed to various Eid traditions that derive from many different cultures and countries. An essential part of the Eid celebration is family reunion; families of different cultural backgrounds come together on this day and celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Furthermore, special dishes and sweets of many different cultures are served on this day and eaten as a means of tradition and celebration. I once celebrated the Eid holiday in the Netherlands and learned that the holiday was referred to as the " Sugar Feast" since many Muslims tend to make distinct cookies and sweets particularly for this celebration. The food alone that is made in many different countries specially for the Eid celebration depicts the holiday's multicultural aura. Muslim countries's streets are filled with food from different countries that is then shared with all those who pass by. What fascinates me is the fact that many muslim people gather at once on this very day to welcome one another and spread the religious holiday's jolly ambience. When I go out with my family on this day, I am greeted by many other people who too are gathered with their families on the special day. I have exchanged Eid greetings with people from all over the globe in different languages. Muslims, no matter their country origins, come together to celebrate this fantastic holiday. No matter the people's origins and cultural backgrounds, Muslims all celebrate Eid, which makes the holiday spiced with their unique cultural customs. But most all, my favorite Eid tradition is the absolution that comes with reunion. Subjects that were long disputed or moments of disagreements are forgotten as people pardon each other and choose to spend the day joyfully and in utter peace with other people.
