The North Cascades of Washington State contains the largest concentration of glaciers in the United States outside of Alaska.
On a beautiful summer morning, I summited Sahale Peak in the North Cascades. It is a relatively straight forward climb requiring hiking a few miles to reach the Sahale Glacier. Once you cross the glacier there is a rock climb up the final summit block.
At 8,681 feet, Sahale Peak offers a commanding view of the interior of the North Cascades. From the summit you can see multiple volcanoes, towering peaks, glaciers, and deep valleys filled with old growth forests.
I hope that everyone can at least experience the beautiful places that exist in the world. Nature helps recapture the wonder and provokes curiosity. It provides a sense of awe and wonder towards creation and ultimately the meaning of life.
