It was back in spring 2012 that I discovered the beauty of the northeastern region of New York State’s Adirondacks. Although I was just passing through on Interstate 87 on the way to New York City and beyond, the scenic drive was indeed breathtaking and inspirational.
In my home province of Ontario, there are plenty of serene parks and forests - like Algonquin Park - worthy of a Sunday drive, but my first taste of the Adirondacks left an indelible mark on my creativity.
Now, just over a year since that drive, I decided to quench my thirst for my Adirondack inspired creativity by developing a simple idea worth sharing with anyone and everyone willing to spend some spare time being imaginative and creative with scrap cardboard.
The result is a Cardboard Adirondack Chair (known in Ontario, Canada as the Muskoka Chair) held together with just glue, yet capable of holding upwards of 200lbs. (91kg). Not only that, it is also waterproof, lightweight and most importantly - biodegradable. It can be enjoyed from spring to fall and then recycle during the winter. A fun handmade craft anyone can do themselves to enjoy summer and fall days at little cost. I posted the free instructions on how to make it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z8SmkAyXlA
I definitely look forward to the day I can stop and enjoy the Adirondacks, take out my cardboard chair and soak it all in. You know, enjoy those small pleasures in life only technology-free nature can provide.
Cheers,
Lue
