I believe that There is only one way to truly ensure an end to the racial problem:
1. Whites have to acknowledge that what their ancestors did was more than just subjugation for the purposes of free labor, but was in effect the systemic and gov't sanctioned: persecution, exploitation, and (most severely) indoctrination of people of color. As a consequence an entire people had to create for themselves an entirely NEW culture because the old was systematically destroyed. Therefore when finally "freed" these people had to accomplish what normally takes isolated civilizations centuries to do and they had to do so while under constant external precision and persistent indoctrination with respect to their overall worth as human beings. When they do that they will understand and no longer have the foolhardy expectation that racism can be ended with a simple speech and a few relatively peaceful decades. They will also understand that their ancestors instilled in people of color an ideology of dependency for which the entire nation continues to pay for.
2. People of color have to begin to believe in their own self worth and their ability to solve the problems in their communities THEMSELVES and stop looking to whites (or the white power structure... or the remnants thereof) to blame for their issues and simultaneously turn to them for help. This is a slave mentality. All civil rights leaders believed in the ideal of self reliance for people of color because they understood that historically people of color were brainwashed to be dependent on whites for the necessities of life, when in reality the only means of social mobility in America is Self Reliance for any race or ethnicity.
I firmly hold that if White Americans show more understanding and accept the: systemic, physical, and psychological brutality of American history with respect to people of color; and people of color reject dependency in favor of self reliance and a belief in themselves the result will be the post racist society that doctor King and other civil rights leaders envisioned.
