Peshawar, September 6: Pasban Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor has said that the drone attack on
Wazirstan on the occasion of the Defence Day of Pakistan is a serious challenge to the political and
military leadership.
In his speech read out at a “Pasban missile rally’ here Friday, he said the release of Dr Shakil Afridi
before the return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui would limits Mian Nawaz Sharif, politically, to Raiwand. He said
the country needs a brave and gallant leadership like Gen Muhammad bin Qasim.
The rally staged by Pasban Peshawar chapter marched from Hashtigrah Firdous, Chowk Yadigar and
Shauba and ended at the Peshawar Press Club. Pasban Pakistan Deputy General Secretary Abdul Hakim
Quaid, coordination secretary Azam Minhas, Pasban Peshawar patron-in-chief Haji Lal Muhammad,
district president Muhammad Khan and Citizens Welfare Foundation chairman Sada Khan were also
present.
Altaf Shakoor said in 1965 despite many weaknesses we were strong enough to teach India a lesson.
He asked why today we are so hapless despite being a nuclear power. He asked have we kept our atom
bomb in some museum.
He said CIA contractor Raymond Davis was allowed to leave the country and it is possible that the same
facility would be given to Dr Shakil Afridi. He said if Afridi was let go before the return of Aafia it would
be a matter of shame for the new government. He asked why no suo moto action is being taken on the
issue of Aafia Siddiqui. Why politicians are not holding marches and sit-ins. Why there is no demo or
a ‘million march’. He said the government has also kept a mum on this vital issue which would not be
tolerated by the nation anymore.
Shakoor asked when our politicians would represent the real aspirations of people. He asked why Imran
Khan is silent and not raising Aafia Issue in parliament. He said why his party is not raising this issue in
Khyber-Pakhtunkhuwa assembly.
The Pasban leader said the politicians and the government should join hands to stop the release of Afridi
and ensure Aafia release. He wondered if they had done some under the table deal on this issue. He said
the country needs brave heroes like Rashid Minhas, Raja Aziz Bhatti and Col Sher Khan to rid the country
of lawlessness, joblessness, price hike and terrorism.
The Pasban leaders also addressed the rally in different areas of Peshawar. They demanded to develop
Peshawar and make it a clean and exemplary urban city of Pakistan. A large number of people carrying
Pasban flags and banners participated in the rally, which also displayed a 24-feet replica of the Ghouri
missile. A group of children dubbed as ‘Commando Naunihal Contingent’ remained the main attraction
of the rally.
Those spoke included Ibrahim Qureshi, Shaikh Naseem, Jamruz Khan, Zarbat Khan, Tariq Khan and Faizur
Rehman.
