The past elections in Honduras, held on November 24, has led to uproar among the population since the transparency of the process has not been very clear despite the amount of international observers. Little by little, representatives from different political parties, have found numerous inconsistencies in the web page of the Supreme Electoral Institute, where the record of the ballots do not coincide with the records shown on the site (some examples are found here: http://siede.tse.hn/app_dev.php/divulgacionmonitoreo/reporte-acta/8413/1

Facebook has been the portal where people criticize the process and show dissatisfaction with the new elected President Juan Orlando Hernandez, current president of the Congress. People do not trust him for his role in the dubious project of the Charter City, a model proposed by economist Paul Romer, who withdrew from participating in it “[…] by the sort of opaque decision making that his plan was supposed to change.” as reported by Elisabeth Malkin on September 30, 2012 in New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/01/world/americas/charter-city-plan-to-fight-honduras-poverty-loses-initiator.html)

In addition to this, he was previously accused of fraud in the primaries of his own party: some of his activists were found carrying the ID’s of 266 citizens and in his own headquarters were found around 2,479 more. He was never charged for this. (http://www.elheraldo.hn/Secciones-Principales/Sucesos/Caen-activistas-de-JOH-con-266-identidades

Both Libre and Pac parties have asked authorities for a recount and do not recognize him as the elected president. Both claim the exit polls favor them, which is very difficult to prove since they are based on whom voters said they chose; it is clear this data is not accurate enough. However, videos and facebook posts of representatives at the tables, have informed of irregularities such as: inconsistencies between the records given to them at the end of the count and the data entries, bribery to obtain votes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l274TWLr6J8), as well as purchase of other parties credentials. For instance, Axel Joe Hernandez Posas posted on his facebook wall:

“Many of you know me and know that I work for the National Party and see what happened to me[:] I was representing the National Party at the polling table but they gave me a badge of FAPER party (I do not know how they got it , but they had a large amount of credentials from that party ) and chose me as secretary of the board[;] and as a backup I had 2 people with National party’s credential to back me up. This was at Leopoldo Aguilar School of San Pedro Sula. They expected me, as a representative of the other party, to favor the National Party in the counts. Many of you know me and know that I would not do that so I rather counted and filled acts as transparently as possible and in the presence other parties’ representatives.”

He included a photo of his credential attached to this ireport. It can be found on Yutube several videos in which you can a confused representative of the National Party wearing a credential from Faper and another one in which a Pac representative shows the inconsistencies of the table he was sitting at.
